General Information

HICSS-33 will consist of advanced seminars, tutorials, open forums, task forces, plenary lectures, a distinguished guestlecture, and the presentation of accepted manuscripts which emphasize research and development activities in severalareas of the system sciences. The best papers, selected by the program committee in each of these areas, are given anaward at the meeting. There is a high degree of interaction and discussion among the conference participants because themeeting is conducted in a workshop-like setting. All registrants are expected to attend the entire conference and activelyengage in these discussions.

HICSS currently offers eight tracks: collaboration systems and technology, decision technologies for management, digitaldocuments, emerging technologies, information technology in health care, internet and the digital economy, organizationalsystems and technology, and software technology. Papers in each of these tracks have in recent years made significantcontributions to the application of information systems technology. Many have been republished in various journals,transactions and magazines, or have appeared as chapters in books. All manuscripts are rigorously reviewed by peopleactively involved in each paper's subject area. 

Advanced seminars, tutorials, workshops, special presentations are available for conference registrants at no additionalcost. Each is designed to be an intensive short course to serve as a survey of the state-of-the-art knowledge in eachsubject area, and to lay the foundation for some of the related paper sessions in the conference. Printed and electronicversions of the proceedings are also included in the registration fee. Comments and feedback from each HICSSconference indicate that the carefully structured conference format continues to be professionally rewarding andstimulating to everyone who attends.

Because HICSS is a nonprofit activity funded entirely by registration fees, all participants and speakers are expected tohave their organization bear the costs of their expenses and registration. HICSS is sponsored by the University of Hawai'iCollege of Business Administration. 

Proceedings:  Proceedings of the Hawai`i International Conference on System Sciences are published and distributed by the IEEE Computer Society.
