Author Instructions

Congratulations on having your paper accepted to the Thirty-Sixth Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-36). Final acceptance is conditional upon submission of the final draft of your paper to your Minitrack Chair (if changes have been requested). With your Minitrack Chair's approval, please submit the final paper and a Copyright Transfer form (see Step #4 below), by September 30, and register at least one author for the conference by October 1, 2002.

The Proceedings will be published and distributed by the Computer Society Press of the IEEE and listed in its publication brochures. You must follow the IEEE Proceedings Guidelines and their deadlines to ensure that the Proceedings are ready for distribution at the Conference in January.

There are 5 steps you must complete by 5 pm Pacific Time Monday, September 30:

  1. Format your paper according to the Formatting Guidelines. Please note that papers cannot exceed 10 pages and must be single-space, double-column.

* PDF files will NOT be accepted this year due to problems that occurred the last few years.

  1. Follow specific instructions for submitting the file containing your formatted paper and your abstract to the publisher.  (NOTE: abstracts will now be submitted on the same page as the paper)

If you are unable to submit your paper via the website, you can make arrangements with IEEE to accept a paper version for an extra charge of US $100. Please contact eidennis@indiana.edu  or  HICSS Conference Office by September 20 for information about how to submit a paper version.

  1. Send a copy of your submitted paper to your Minitrack Chair.
  2. Print, complete, and fax to Lorretta Palagi at IEEE (fax number: (+1) 360-734-9715) the Copyright Form (PDF version or Word version). If you want to order reprints, please print, complete, and fax the Reprint Request Form (PDF version or text only version) to IEEE (fax number: (+1) 714 761-1784)
  3. Print, complete, and send by fax, mail, or email to HICSS the Audio-visual Request form AND print, complete, and send by fax, mail, or email to HICSS the Conference Registration form. (Only one AV form per paper is required. Please consult with your co-authors to avoid confusion.)

We strongly suggest that you register at the conference hotel by October 1 as well. While there are other hotels within driving distance of the conference venue, this time of year is very popular in Hawaii and other accommodations may be scarce. We have reserved a specified number of rooms, and once that limit is reached, neither space nor the conference rate is guaranteed.

We also encourage you to make your airline and car reservations early because they too may become scarce.
