Track: Software Technology
Minitrack:
Socio-technical Design

A socio-technical system (STS) is any social system, like a community, operating through a technical system, like a computer network. Socio-technical design arises when social requirements transform the technical requirements for system success. Examples of socio-technical transforms include human conversation (email), group discussion (chat), sharing knowledge ( wiki ), trading (e-markets), learning (e-learning), play (online games), making friends (social networking) and others. This mini-track seeks research that explicitly connects social processes and system design, evaluation or operation, e.g. how social concepts like fairness, trust, privacy, leadership, communication, ownership, belonging, roles, friendship, play, reputation or identity (to mention a few) can enlighten software design. Contributions from companion disciplines like law, psychology, sociology, communication, education, health, and politics are welcome.
