Workshop: Creating and Improving on a National Support Structure for
---------- -----Information Assurance Education (full-day)
Leaders: Brian Gouker and Christine Nickell
This workshop is intended to provide awareness of the effectiveness of the NIETP and examine future growth of and opportunities for the program. (For over ten years the National Information Assurance Education and Training Program (NIETP) has provided the foundation for an Information Assurance education alliance through partnerships with government, academia, and industry. Approximately 100 institutions have met criteria for designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in IA Education (CAE/IAE).) This workshop will provide background for the establishment of a national program such as the NIETP, and continued discussion about the future of this and similar programs.
Specific areas for discussion and reporting include opportunities for international programs; a dialog on the pros and cons of establishing an academic accreditation process or other self-governance of the CAE/IAE program; pursuing streamlined and more efficient processes for courseware mapping and CAE/IAE applications; and addressing peer reviews which is a common practice in academia, but not fully instituted for the NIETP processes.
We seek papers/presentations for the workshop. Please contact one of the leaders for more information about participation.
