The Grand Wailea Maui Resort & Spa is part of the Waldorf
Astoria chain, and currently managed by the Hilton. It is located on the
southern side of Maui in Wailea near Kihei. Occupying acres of lush green
landscaping with waterslides and a magnificent beach, and an enchanting
lagoon that meanders through the resort. The hotel is 15 miles (24 km) from
Kahalui Airport.

Making Online Reservations at the Grand
Wailea. Our special rates ($195-$215-$235-$255) are available for the
HICSS conference Jan 1-8. Group Code information is sent to registered participants only, after
having made their
conference
registration.

Please
note: There
will be additional fees added to your room rate: Transient Accommodations Tax
9.25%,
4.17% General
Excise Tax; $10 round-trip porterage per person; $3 daily housekeeping fee ($6 for
suites);
Golf Bag porterage (if used) $3/bag round-trip; and $15 Daily Resort Charge*. See below for details. *

Grand Wailea
Special HICSS Deposit: A deposit in the amount
of only two nights rental (including tax) for each
confirmed room will
be due from each HICSS participant staying at the Grand Wailea. (The online
system will
ask for a full-stay
deposit, but you need only give two nights and your reservation will
nevertheless be
processed.)
Cancellation
Policy: Deposits are refundable with 14 days notice prior to the reservation
arrival date. All
cancellations or
date changes received within 14 days of the arrival date are subject to
forfeiture or a penalty to
the deposit.
Scheduling:
It is not possible to accommodate requests to schedule a paper or session for
specific days or times. We respectfully ask you to understand that the schedule
must be set with the assumption that Minitrack chairs and Presenting authors
will be attending the conference the entire 3 days of paper sessions Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday January 5 -7). Please make your travel plans to attend the
conference at least those three days, 8am-5pm. Included in your registration
fee are the Symposia, Workshops, and Tutorials on Wednesday. These sessions may
supplement paper sessions later in the week, or offer new insights into other
research areas.

Travel Alert
– Maui is not a "sleepy" little island, and traffic can be a
challenge at times especially during morning or afternoon rush hours. We suggest renting a car for
leisurely driving during the week, or pre-arranging for shuttle service
(non-exclusive) to/from the airport to the hotel.

Rates are
guaranteed one week before and one week after the group dates.
Rates include unlimited mileage.

Guests: You are welcome to bring
family or friends, including children, to the conference. Please complete a
Guest Registration Form and return by fax 808-956-5759 or email hicss@hawaii.edu prior to
the conference, with payment. Only persons registered as HICSS-45 participants
or as guests of participants may receive special room rates, and attend
luncheons or the Luau. Only registered participants are permitted in paper
presentation sessions.
Alternate
Accommodations: The Grand Wailea has reached capacity as of Oct 12. We
have made overflow arrangements with the next door Wailea Marriott (a slow
10-minute beach walk) for the same rates and categories. You will be quite happy
with these arrangements. If you have already registered and paid for the
conference, please email hicss@hawaii.edu

For budget or
family reasons, you may wish to share a room and/or stay in a condo. If staying
in a condo, please consider the challenge of timing for sessions, meals, and
other meetings during the conference, as well as transportation requirements,
e.g. car rental and/or valet parking at the Grand Wailea.

Maui is known as the Valley Isle,
and it has a unique ambiance among the Hawaiian island chain. We urge you to spend a few days before
or after the conference (or to keep your family happily occupied while you are
in session) exploring this wonderful place.
